Terrific Twos

Time has flown and Jaden has grown to be a fun, wild, crazy, funny, loving child. We just recently celebrated Jaden's 2nd birthday this past weekend. Being two is a big deal not just for him, but for us too.

He is already demonstrating a desire for independence to do things for himself. He knows what he wants and shows it. "No" seems to be the favorite word in the house these days other than "Elmo".

He has a strong personality all on his own, but you can still see Daddy's influence and Mommy's spirit in him.

Like all two year olds, he’s tests the limits, but makes it up with hugs and kisses.

He does all of his baby stunts. As you may or may not know he had a major accident and ended up in the ER from jumping on the bed. 4 stitches later (over his left eye brow) he still continues to jump, play and run into things. He's not scared to do things that Mommy "Eeeeks about". I just have to have my third eye on him when he's running around... Of course Daddy thinks by buying him a helmet will solve everything...sigh...

We finally tackled the sleeping monster. We're getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep now. Yeah! Thanks to team work and LOTS and LOTS of coffee during the day and eye concealer. Go Starbucks, Caffino and good make-up! Now, getting him in HIS own bed will be another challenge we have to tackle...darn.

He’s beginning to understand the physical signs to go “potty”. He's already marked his territory in the house and "Spray and Wash" and "Totally Toddler" sprays has saved my furniture. I'm okay with him being in diapers for now. Figure we'll tackle one thing at a time.

There are certainly challenges being an older parent. We may have a young spirit, but the body is definitely not forgiving when you pull this or that, or when your sleep has been compromised and have to work 2 hours later....it takes more time for us to heal or spring back to ourselves. We're not exactly Brad Pitt (43) or Angela Jolie (36) but we have something that they don't: is our circle of good friends, relatives, Great Grandparents and God-parents who support and love our family. We're very blessed to have you guys be there for us. Thank you for being a part of our life.

Summertime

We haven't had much of a summer but
but when it got hot, we sure know how to cool off! We run to the pool!
Water is his sport next to playing ball with his Daddy!
But today, he spent the day with his cousin and Uncle in the pool learning how to swim. In no time, he knew how to dog paddle! Enjoyed every minute in the water...even though it was cold!

This was his first summer and definitely not the last learning how to swim.
Funny...ever since I've lived here...I haven't really utilized the pool...
I think we'll be at the pool more now especially with the little one just as long we live here...
